The ACAAM Award for Excellence as a Mid-Career Educator

The Blaze Award recognizes an ACAAM member whose career has been devoted to education that promotes academic excellence and inspires leadership in academic addiction medicine. During their career, they have embodied the mission, vision, and values of ACAAM through their work in education and demonstrated leadership in the field.

Nominate for The Blaze Award

Award eligibility, selection process, presentation

  • Nominee is a current ACAAM member
  • Nominee has been teaching for 5 - 15 years
  • Nomination Requirements - complete the form, attach two formal nomination letters (at least one from a former trainee) stating why this person should receive The Blaze Award, along with a current copy of the nominee's curriculum vitae.
  • The Awards Committee will consider all nominations and present a recommended recipient to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • In selecting recipients, the Awards Committee will take into consideration ACAAM's efforts to promote antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • The award is presented at the Annual Addiction Medicine Fellow Virtual Graduation & ACAAM Awards Recognition Event on June 3, 2026, 6 pm ET.
