Modernizing ACAAM’s Governance Structure

ACAAM is implementing updates to its governance structure as part of a broader effort to ensure the organization remains focused, effective, and well positioned to advance its mission.

Over time, organizations evolve—and governance structures must evolve with them. As ACAAM’s programs, priorities, and capacity have changed, it has become clear that a more streamlined and flexible approach to committee governance will better support our work and our members.

The updated governance model emphasizes clarity of purpose, defined scopes of work, and more agile forms of engagement. Rather than relying primarily on long‑standing committees with broad mandates, ACAAM will increasingly use focused, time‑limited groups that are aligned to specific goals and strategic needs.

This approach offers several benefits. It allows the organization to respond more quickly to emerging issues, reduces administrative burden, and creates clearer pathways for meaningful volunteer engagement. It also helps ensure that the time and expertise of our members are used where they can have the greatest impact.

As part of this transition, some standing committees have completed their work and are concluding. We extend our sincere thanks to the members who have served on these committees—their contributions have been essential to ACAAM’s growth and success.

ACAAM remains deeply committed to volunteer leadership. In the months ahead, we will continue to assess organizational needs and share new opportunities for members to contribute their expertise in ways that are purposeful, focused, and sustainable.

We are grateful to our members for their continued engagement and support as ACAAM moves forward with a governance structure designed to meet the needs of today and the future.
